Hello. I am infinitely curious, but you can call me Iris.
I’ve written stories about birds in a grocery store, public transit, a retiring K9, local biodiesel efforts, trail repair, budget issues, ticks and mosquitoes, wind farms and custodians … and I was interested in the processes and people involved in every one (even *gasp* the bureaucracies).
No, journalism is not dead; but the way the masses consume information is just changing. I’ve been taught to adapt or be replaced. I have extensive skills in reporting, web-design, photography, video editing and research. I look forward to learning more programs and skills as my career progresses.
Though I have emphasized my studies on energy and resource issues and colleagues have called me an “environmental journalist,” I would would never want to limit my writing and research to one area. I enjoy writing breaking news, informational pieces, and investigative reports, but I also have a need to step back and write a good feature or profile.
I look forward to providing news outlets – of all mediums – with well-told true stories.
I was born in 1986 in Grand Junction, Colorado. I currently reside in San Antonio, Texas.
